A cradle Catholic, Hope Johnson grew up outside of Washington, D.C. not far from the halls of power and learned from an early age which ones were the true Halls of Power. Learning about the Saints and Patriots that founded our nation and actually walking the paths they walked inspired her love of American history and the Catholic faith.
Hope earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Christendom College in Front Royal, Virginia and her Master of Science Degree in Nursing from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. A specialist in pediatric nursing, Hope presently cares for children who become
ill or injured or find themselves in need of a little tender loving care during the day at a local school.
After moving to Mississippi, Hope fell in love with the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, a religious formation program for children founded on Scripture and the Liturgy and rooted in the Montessori principles of hands-on learning in a prepared environment. She volunteers her time as a catechist at the Cathedral of Saint Peter the Apostle in Jackson, Mississippi and coordinates the program of children’s catechesis for the parish. Hope is recognized by CGSUSA as an adult formation leader for Levels I and II of the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd and has led courses locally in Mississippi and around the United States.
Catholic Prayers for Children was born of the desire to share the love of God with children by presenting to them the concept of prayer as conversation with God, our Heavenly Father. God loves each and every individual on earth fully and completely, and desires to be in relationship with all. Connection is integral to happy relationships, and conversation is the means by which human beings connect. Conversation is also the means by which we communicate with God, and conversation with God is called prayer.
God calls all human beings to relationship with Him, and we respond with prayers of thanks, praise, adoration, and blessing. God provides for all of our needs and the needs of others, and we ask for everything we need through prayers of petition and intercession. God is pure love, and children have the capacity to enjoy and share that love through prayer. Catholic Prayers for Children invites children of all ages to enjoy and celebrate their relationship with our great and loving God!
